iMIS SUPPORT FOR ASSOCIATIONS
I work with associations on iMIS in two ways: as your advocate during an implementation led by a specialist partner, and as your ongoing specialist in web content, member journey, and communications integrations like Higher Logic and Mailchimp. Both come from the same place, understanding iMIS well enough to make it work properly for your members.

ADVOCATE, SPECIALIST, OR BOTH
Client-Side Implementation Advocate
Most associations only go through an iMIS implementation, migration, or reimplementation once every several years. Rarely is there someone in-house who's done it before, and the specialist partners running the technical build are working for the project, not specifically for you.
I sit on your side of the table. As a CiP-certified consultant, I understand the platform well enough to follow the technical conversation, ask the right questions, and make sure decisions during scoping, build and testing actually reflect how your association works, not just what's fastest to configure. I'm not replacing your implementation partner. I'm making sure you get what you're paying them for.
Web Content, Member Journey & Communications
This is where I spend most of my technical time in iMIS: the member-facing side. Web content structure, the journey a member actually goes through from joining to renewing to engaging, and the integrations that connect iMIS to the platforms you communicate through, Higher Logic, Mailchimp, and others.
This work stands on its own. If you're already live on iMIS and your content or communications setup isn't pulling its weight, I can come in and fix that directly, no implementation project required. It's also work I do as part of a larger implementation, when it's part of the build.
Certified, and honest about scope
iMIS is a big platform, and nobody knows all of it. I hold CiP (Certified iMIS Professional) certification and I'm part of the ASI iMIS consultant talent pool, which means I've been vetted against the platform at a professional level. But my depth is specifically in web content, member journey, and communications integrations, not in every corner of iMIS's technical configuration.
That's a feature, not a gap. It's exactly what makes me useful sitting on the client's side of an implementation: I understand enough of the technical layer to hold my own with a specialist partner, without pretending to be the one running the full technical build. For associations, that combination, genuine platform literacy plus a clear-eyed view of where my expertise stops, is usually more useful than either a generalist with no iMIS background or a partner who's stretched across the whole project.
Where Associations Bring Me In
Starting a new iMIS implementation
You've selected (or are selecting) an implementation partner and want someone on your side of the table through scoping, build and go-live.
Mid-migration or reimplementation
You're moving to iMIS from another system, or redoing an existing iMIS install that's drifted from how your association actually operates, and need client-side representation through the process.
ALREADY LIVE ON iMIS
The system's in place, but your web content, member journey, or communications integrations (Higher Logic, Mailchimp, or similar) aren't working as hard as they should be.
Not sure where you sit?
The iMIS Health Check is a self-guided diagnostic covering six areas, including content and member experience, and a reasonable starting point either way.
Two short process tracks
As your advocate
Discovery
I get across your association's needs early, ideally before the implementation partner is engaged, or as soon as possible if the project's already underway.
Representation
I sit in scoping and design conversations as your advocate, making sure requirements reflect how your team actually works, not just what's easiest to build.
Oversight
I review builds, testing, and documentation from your side of the project throughout.
Go-Live & Handover
I support your team through go-live and the settling-in period that follows.
As your content & Communications specIALIST
Audit
A look at your current web content, member journey, and communications integrations against what's actually working for members.
Design
Mapping the improvements: content structure, journey touchpoints, integration requirements.
Build
Implementing the content, journey changes, and platform integrations.
Ongoing Support
Keeping it maintained and improved as your association's needs change.
Common Questions
Do you run full iMIS implementations on your own?
No. For the technical build, I recommend engaging a specialist iMIS implementation partner. My role is either advocating for you through that process, or handling the web content, member journey, and communications side directly.
What's a client-side advocate, exactly?
Someone who understands the platform well enough to sit in implementation conversations on your behalf, so decisions reflect your association's needs rather than just what's quickest to configure.
Can I engage you for content and communications work without a full implementation?
Yes. That work stands on its own for associations already live on iMIS.
Do you work with associations outside Canberra?
Yes, consulting is Australia-wide. Photography is the Canberra-based service.
How long do engagements typically run?
Advocacy work is generally scoped to the length of the implementation project. Content and communications work can be project-based or ongoing, depending on what you need.
Ready to talk it through?
Whether you're heading into an implementation or already live and want the content and communications side sorted, start with a conversation.
